We really loved this property. We had a family gathering here to celebrate our daughter’s 30th birthday and really could not have chosen anywhere better. The property is a very handsome barn conversion in local stone with exposed beams and looks really beautiful. Inside it is fitted out to the highest specification and furnished in character with the building. What we loved were the individual touches – each bedroom had its own character and feel and the little incidentals such as pictures, knick knacks etc. showed that great care and thought had been put in.

The location is wonderful, sitting high above Ilkley and the Wharfe Valley with splendid views over the town and Ilkley Moor on the other side of the valley. Go up the wonderfully named Hunger Hill behind the property and within minutes you are up on wild and glorious heather peat moors with just the grouse for company. You can also be down in the lovely town of Ilkley in no time. The house is set in a former farmyard so nice and secluded and with very friendly neighbours. Jo was so helpful and nothing was too much trouble for us. We had a couple of extra people staying over on the birthday night and not only did Jo raise no objections with this but she supplied a blow up mattress for us. We also found on our arrival a mother’s day cake (from Betty’s Tea Room no less), a dozen eggs from Jo’s own hens, and a bottle of wine in the fridge. These and everything else made us feel that Jo really welcomed us being in her house. Probably the best compliment that I can pay this property is to say that, for the 4 days that we were there it felt properly like home and not just a holiday let. I cannot recommend it too highly. We will definitely be returning for another extended family gathering.

We stayed in the Barn as part of a family group having a weekend get together a few miles away. We really only used it as a location to return to each night, but comfortably sleeps 10. We had a couple of niggles, with 8 wanting showers we ran out of hot water and failed to work the boiling water tap – but Jo popped over to show us the override for the boiler and reset the tap (thanks Jo). Jo thoughtfully left some essentials eggs, wine, yorkshire teabags and cake – and we had a supermarket run to ensure we could breakfast on scrambled eggs on toast, which was very good (and better than the cereals we’d brought!).

A beautiful barn conversion, appointed to a high level in a great location. We arrived to find it spotless, with not only the basics (towels, dishwasher tablets etc) provided but a nice little welcome pack with tea, biscuits and a Betty’s Victoria sponge cake. This would make a great property for family gatherings, with plenty of social space and seating for everyone. Almost feel reticent about recommending this property as I’ll definitely be booking it again in the future and don’t want the competition.

Amazing location and such an amazing space for a group of friends. Everything was well thought out at the Barn and the welcome basket was a lovely touch. The separate bathrooms meant no one felt like they were in each other’s way at all the the living space was lovely and communal. Jo was in touch well before and right up to our check-in. Would definitely book here again!!

This is a high quality holiday rental near Ilkley which can accommodate several families or couples. It is excellent value for money. The converted barn is located just at the top of Curly Hill in Ikley which our taxi driver accurately described as the ‘Beverley Hills of Ilkley’! It is a short car ride into Ilkley or you can get a taxi to and from the accommodation for approx £5. It is also possible to walk down into Ilkley (though uphill is not recommended). Ilkely itself is a beautiful small town with plenty of places to eat and drink. There are beautiful views of Ilkley from the barn. The owner Josephine has refurbished the barn in a very tasteful manner. There are five double bedrooms, four toilets and four bathrooms (at least)! All mod cons are included, including internet connection, dishwasher, washing machine, microwave etc. Josephine the owner is fantastic at getting back to you and providing information to help you enjoy your trip. She also provided us with the basics, such as dishwasher tablets, milk, soap etc which was a lovely and thoughtful touch. I cannot recommend this accommodation more.

Had a wonderful stay at the barn. We were a large party attending a nearby wedding. We were very happy everything was clean, organised and ready for us so we could just turn up and get on with things. The barn itself is enormous, with 5 star rooms and mostly en-suite which helps when you all need to get ready at similar times. There’s plenty of space in the kitchen, diner and living areas for everyone to be comfortably accommodated and there’s no shortage of crockery either. Jo very kindly left us welcome supplies of tea, milk, wine, biscuits and a delicious Betty’s cake; everything you could need for a long weekend in Yorkshire. We’d love to stay again to enjoy more of the wonderful countryside and serene views which surround this discrete yet accessible retreat.

We had a really lovely time at the Barn and Jo couldn’t do enough to make sure our stay was as comfortable as possible… we would’ve appreciated a slightly bigger garden area with 5 kids to entertain (!) but this was a minor thing. Overall, all of us enjoyed our stay and would definitely book the barn again.

We stayed here for a family get-together over a long weekend and could not fault it at all….the house was beautiful and all the bedrooms were extremely comfortable. Jo provided us with a lovely cake from Betty’s together with a bottle of wine, tea, coffee and eggs which was very much appreciated! Will definitely look at returning and would not hesitate in recommending The Barn.

We had a lovely long weekend break. The barn is the perfect location for walking and cycling in the Yorkshire Dales and in the evening relaxing. The kitchen was well equipped and lounge and dining area comfortably sat us all. Having four large double rooms was a definite added bonus. Cannot wait to go back and explore more of the area!

Enjoyed a fantastic week at this beautiful barn in November 2017. Jo was superb – & welcomed us with an array of delicious goodies. The barn is renovated to an extremely high standard and has everything you could want – and more! The location is great too – offering fabulous views over Ilkley. We’ll definitely be back!

We have travelled widely and have stayed in some pretty special places in our time but the Barn is probably the best to date. It is beautifully decorated and was very well equipped for our party (10 adults).

Located five minutes from the centre of Ilkley, it has beautiful views over the moors and lovely countryside walks starting at the door. We had a wonderful few days. Jo is a terrific host and I fervently hope we will be able to come back again.
