At The Barn, we have provided everything you need to prepare and enjoy a homecooked breakfast. Our open place kitchen has top quality appliances, plenty of utensils and even a Quooker hot tap for instant hot water. For those who prefer to eat inside, we have dining space for 10 in our groundfloor living area. For those who like breakfast with a view, we have two outside tables with seating. We even have a BBQ if you fancy cooking your Yorkshire sausages that way!
However, when on holiday we don’t always want to cook for ourselves. After all, we spend enough time in the kitchen when we’re at home. So, we have put together a short list of our favourite breakfast spots in Ilkley. There’s something to suit all tastes and all dietary requirements so you’re bound to find something to kick start that metabolism before a day of sightseeing.
Here are some of the best places to get breakfast in Ilkley…
The Little Teahouse
You’ll find this cafe on The Grove, in the centre of town. These guys have done super well since they opened and recently won the award for ” Best Food and Drink Business” at the 2019 Ilkley Business Awards. It’s a great independently-run tea room serving breakfast, lunch and homemade cakes. It’s really lovely inside with white wooden furniture, shabby chic decor and a bright, welcoming atmosphere. Everything on their breakfast menu is freshly made using great quality local produce.
Outside The Box
Outside The Box is a wonderful charity-run community cafe, supporting adults and young people with learning difficulties. With the support of parents and carers, they offer volunteering opportunities in all aspects of their business from the marketing and admin through to serving in the cafe and helping on their allotment. You’ll find them on Bridge Lane and they’re open 7 days a week from 9 am. All the items on the menu are reasonably priced and delicious. They serve everything from the traditional Full English to Berry Compote & Natural Yogurt with Granola.
J Reserve, on The Grove, serves excellent quality breakfasts and great barista coffee. It’s run by established restauranteur, Julie Mountain, who has run the equally as good Cafe J in Ilkley for many years. The food here is fabulous but the interior of the restaurant is so beautiful that it makes the whole dining experience even better. Breakfast is served from 9 am until Noon and costs anything from £2.25 for Fruit Toast with Preserves or an Almond Filled Croissant to £7.95 for French Toast with Crispy Bacon and Maple Syrup.
Daniel’s Cafe and Bistro
Daniel’s Cafe and Bistro on Leeds Road is a quirky, indie coffee house serving breakfast, brunch, and lunch. They specialise in healthy, delicious food and their single origin coffee from Ethiopia is divine! Relax in their bright and trendy cafe and tuck into dishes such as the Morning Stack which includes organic braised beans, local dry cured bacon, baked tomatoes, fried egg, spinach, feta and rocket, and fresh sourdough bread. They also have some superb vegetarian options like their full Veggie Breakfast and their Mushroom Toast.
