Why your 2018 holiday should be a UK staycation

Why Your 2018 Holiday Should Be A Self-Catering ‘Staycation’

‘Staycations’ have become increasingly popular with UK holidaymakers in recent years. There are numerous contributing factors such as political unrest in certain countries, the rise in terror attacks in European cities and the higher prices of foreign holidays during school holidays since the new legislation disallowing term time breaks.

UK hotel breaks can often be just as costly as foreign holidays when you are travelling in a large party. Restaurant meals, room service and added extras such as mini bars, all contribute to a hefty bill at the end of an already expensive experience. Choosing a self-catering holiday is often a more economical alternative but there are far more reasons to choose this type of accommodation than just the effect it will have on your bank balance.

Why You Should Choose Our 5-Bedroomed Holiday Cottage in Ilkley…

Space

Holiday cottages will undoubtedly provide you with more space than a hotel room can. Whilst living out of one room might be okay for a short break, it can become claustrophobic and frustrating when you are spending a week away with the kids. At The Barn, we have 5 large bedrooms and 2 living areas, so there’s plenty of space for storage and you certainly won’t be tripping over one another.

Eating In

Unless you want to spend your holiday eating dried noodles and snack products, you’re completely reliant on other people’s cooking during a hotel break. Whether you eat in the hotel’s restaurant, order room service or book a nearby restaurant, it’s going to be far more expensive that it could be if you cooked your own meals. We’ve got a dining area that can seat 10 people and our kitchen is fully equipped with everything you would need to prepare and serve home cooked meals during your stay with us.

Freedom

One of the best things about self-catering holidays is the freedom to do what you want, when you want. If you want to roll out of bed at 11am and still have breakfast, then that’s fine. If you want fresh bedding but don’t want a stranger coming into your room whilst you’re out, that’s also okay. On a self-catering holiday, all we ask of you is that you leave our property as you find it (and perhaps leave us a complimentary online review afterwards ;))

Exploration

It’s often tempting during a pricey all-inclusive hotel stay, to make use of the hotel amenities whilst completely neglecting to explore your surroundings. Granted, we can’t offer you an evening of cabaret performances and there won’t be any holiday reps trying to entice you into doing the ‘Macarena’, but we can promise you a beautiful location and some fantastic nearby towns and cities to explore.

Home Comforts

We’ve done our very best to ensure that our Yorkshire holiday let provides everything you need to help you relax during your stay with us. If you don’t want to spend your evening at a bar or walking around the local town, you can put your feet up on our sofa and chill out in front of Sky Q television. We have Wifi so you can access the internet from The Barn and there’s a wood burning stove for those colder nights. We’ll also provide a hospitality package when you arrive, which includes a bottle of wine and a cake from Betty’s Tearooms.

We want  you to enjoy your stay  in the Yorkshire Dales as much as possible. We already know that the location of our holiday let is superb, so we’ve furnished and equipped our property as if it were our own home.

Book your 2018 ‘staycation’ at The Barn and explore our beautiful county from the comfort of our homely barn conversion.
